Download, drag Score Buddy into Applications, open it. A short welcome asks which leagues you follow and, if you like, a favourite team in each. The widget appears on screen; settings live behind the basketball in the menu bar.

Not if you don't want it to. Hide from Screen Sharing keeps it out of Zoom, Teams, Meet, recordings and screenshots, while you still see it on your display.
Public sports data feeds, refreshed every fifteen seconds during a live game, with the leagues' own feeds as backups. If the feeds can't be reached, the card shows how old the scores are rather than pretending.
Yes. A paid version with extra features may come later; everyone who installs now keeps what they have.

Getting started. Click the basketball in the menu bar. Leagues turns each league on or off; Pick Your Team sets one favourite per league; Notifications chooses alerts for your teams or all games today; Size, Appearance, Show Last Play and Show Top Performers change the card; Show Only on Desktop parks it on your wallpaper; Hide from Screen Sharing keeps it out of calls, recordings and screenshots; Launch at Login starts it with your Mac.
Moving it. Drag the card anywhere. Click the two chevrons under the card for today's, yesterday's and tomorrow's games.
Alerts not appearing. Check System Settings → Notifications → Score Buddy is allowed, and that no Focus mode is on.
Scores look stale. The header shows how old the scores are while the app can't reach the feeds; it recovers on its own.

Score Buddy does not collect, store or transmit any personal information. The app has no accounts and no sign-in. It contains no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
To show scores, the app requests game data from public sports data services (ESPN and the official feeds of the NHL, MLB and NBA). Those requests contain no information about you beyond what any web request carries (your IP address, which the services see as they would for a website visit). Team crests are downloaded from those services and cached on your Mac.
Your preferences (leagues, favourite teams, appearance, position, alert settings) are stored only on your Mac.
